Website Marketing

How  do you get customers to your website?

There are many ways to market your products and services online. We will consider two of these methods of marketing.

1) Direct Advertising

In most cases you are in control in analysing your response advertising success or failure. Response  analysis vary from media to media. The hint about response marketing is that you want customers to respond to 3 things.

Buy a product you are selling

Register for an account to enable you to market present and future products to them

Supply you with their contact details in return for a free product you may offer them

In all of these hints you aim at a similar result, customer relationship.  Knowing that potential customers visiting your website the first time may not necessarily buy from you, you may want to entice them to give their details so you can market your product to them at a later date. In some cases you may offer potential customers  incentive such as vouchers and free gifts  to get them register their details with you, Some companies offer free brochures relevant to their products and services  to get customers details. Others are offers knowledge base eBooks and tools at minimum or no cost to them.

2) Pay Per Click Advertising

Pay Per Click Advertising is one method that case instantly get customers on to your website. Advertisers or business owners  bid on "keywords" that are relevant to their products or services.  Their aim is that shoppers would type such keywords in a search bar when they are looking for their type of products or service. For example, an advertiser selling all kind of watches may bid on the keyword “ Rolex Watch” with the aim of getting customers who are looking specifically for Rolex Watches. The potential customers type in the keyword Rolex Watches, will be shown all website links that are bidding on that keyword. The advertisers aim is that these customers will see their ad, click on it and buy their product “Rolex Watch”. These ads are called "sponsored links" or "sponsored ads" and appear next to and sometimes above the natural or organic  search result pages. The advertiser pays only when a potential customer clicks on the ad.

Google AdWords , Yahoo! Search Marketing and MSN adcenter are the largest network operators  in online advertising. Other agencies have also arisen to facilitate the use of pay-per-click advertising, such as Latitude White in the UK, leading to refinements in the PPC keywords-matching system.

Pay per click advertising can be very  expensive but can also be cost effective depending on how  one approach it. Popular keywords can bid high also using this advertising model may be open to abuse through click fraud, although recently Google and other search engines have implemented automated systems to guard against this.  Advertisers always need to regularly monitor and measure the performance of  this form of advertising in order not to be wasting money unnecessarily. NOTE: 1) Set a budget, 2) Give it a period and 3) If it does not give you the result you need within the set time, then change it.
